1. General betting rules

By opening an account, accessing a betting service or submitting a wager, you confirm that you have read and understood the rules that apply to the relevant product. Different sports, markets, games and bet types may have additional rules. Those product-specific rules will apply where they provide more detailed information about a particular wager.

These rules are intended to explain how bets are accepted, recorded, settled and, where necessary, cancelled or amended. They do not replace the full Terms and Conditions. If there is an inconsistency, the applicable product rules and Terms and Conditions should be considered together, subject to any requirements that apply under Australian law.

Eligibility and account responsibility

  • You must meet the minimum legal age and any other eligibility requirements that apply to gambling in your location.
  • You are responsible for checking that online gambling is lawful for you before using the service.
  • You must provide accurate, current and complete information when registering and when completing any verification process.
  • You must keep your login details, devices and account information secure and must not allow another person to use your account.
  • You must not open or operate an account on behalf of another person, or place bets using funds that do not belong to you.
  • You must tell Shazam Casino if your account information changes or if you believe that someone else has accessed your account.

An account may be subject to identity, age, payment method or other checks. These checks help protect players, prevent fraud and support compliance obligations. Access to some services may be restricted while information is being reviewed. An account may also be suspended or closed where there is a security concern, suspected misuse, a breach of the rules or a legal or regulatory reason.

Displayed information

Before submitting a bet, check the selected event, market, outcome, stake, odds or game information and any applicable terms. You are responsible for reviewing the details shown on the confirmation screen or betting slip. If you notice an error, do not submit the bet until the information has been corrected or clarified.

2. Placing, accepting and changing bets

A bet is normally treated as placed only after it has been submitted through the betting interface and accepted by the system. A selection shown on a bet slip is not necessarily an accepted wager. You should check the confirmation message, account history or other available record to confirm whether a bet was accepted.

Before acceptance

  • Odds, prices, lines, handicaps, limits and available markets may change before a bet is accepted.
  • A bet may be rejected if the market closes, the event starts, the requested stake is unavailable or a technical issue affects the request.
  • A requested stake may be adjusted or declined where applicable rules, account restrictions or transaction checks require this.
  • A bet may not be accepted if the account has insufficient available funds or if the payment method cannot be used.
  • You should not assume that a bet has been accepted merely because funds have been selected or a request has been submitted.

After acceptance

Once accepted, a bet generally cannot be changed, cancelled or withdrawn by the player unless a specific option is made available. Any cash-out, early settlement or similar feature is subject to its own conditions and may not be available for every bet. A displayed cash-out value is not a guarantee that the request will succeed, because the market or event status may change before the request is processed.

You should keep your own record of submitted bets and check your account history regularly. If a bet appears more than once, is missing, or shows information that you believe is incorrect, avoid placing another bet on the same matter until the account record has been checked.

System errors and obvious mistakes

If a bet is accepted because of a clear technical error, obvious pricing mistake, incorrect event information or other material system problem, it may be reviewed and corrected in line with the applicable rules. This can include cancelling the affected bet or settling it using the correct information. A technical error may include an interruption, delay, duplicated instruction, incorrect result, incorrect price or display problem.

If the service is interrupted, do not assume that a bet has failed or been cancelled. Check the account history when access is restored. Records held in the betting system will generally be used to determine whether and when a bet was submitted and accepted, subject to any investigation of an error or security issue.

3. Sports and event betting

Sports and event bets are settled using the official result or another result source identified in the applicable market rules. The result may depend on the official governing body, event organiser, competition authority or other reliable source. If results are changed after initial publication, the market may be reviewed under the relevant rules.

Events, postponements and abandoned matches

Markets can be affected when an event is postponed, abandoned, suspended, relocated, shortened or completed under unusual conditions. The outcome will depend on the rules for that sport, competition, market or bet type. Some bets may remain valid if the required conditions have been met, while others may be cancelled or settled as void.

  • A postponed event may be treated differently from an abandoned event.
  • A bet may be void if the event does not take place within the period or under the conditions stated in the applicable rules.
  • A market may remain open or be re-opened where a result can be determined fairly and the relevant rules allow this.
  • A selection may be void if a participant does not take part, unless the specific market rules state otherwise.
  • Changes to a venue, competition format, participant name or event schedule may affect settlement.

Market and selection details

The wording of a market is important. Terms such as winner, outright, match result, top placement, total, handicap, line, set, period, innings, half, quarter or each-way may have different meanings. Read the market description before placing a bet, particularly where the event can finish with a draw, a dead heat, a tie or a result decided by a countback or other procedure.

Where a dead heat occurs, the applicable rules may provide for a proportional settlement rather than a full return at the displayed odds. Accumulator, multiple and combination bets may also be affected by a void or cancelled selection. The way a multiple bet is adjusted will depend on the bet type and the specific market rules.

Live betting

Live or in-play markets can change quickly. Prices may be suspended while an important event is taking place or while information is being checked. A bet submitted during a suspension, delay or transmission problem may not be accepted. Where a bet is accepted with a material delay or incorrect live information, it may be reviewed under the rules for that market.

4. Casino games and gaming results

Casino, live casino and other gaming products may have rules that differ from sports betting. The game instructions, paytable, help screen or product terms should be read before playing. These materials explain the available wagers, winning combinations, game features, bonus rounds and how results are determined.

Game operation

  • A game round is generally recorded when the wager is accepted and the game is started.
  • Once a round has commenced, it may not be possible to cancel or reverse the wager.
  • Game outcomes are determined by the rules and technical operation of the relevant game.
  • A connection problem does not necessarily mean that a game round was cancelled or that a wager was lost.
  • If a round is interrupted, check the account or game history before starting another round.
  • Any displayed result, balance adjustment or game feature may be reviewed where there is a suspected technical error.

Where a game uses a random outcome, the result is not influenced by previous results, the amount wagered or the length of a playing session. Past outcomes should not be used to predict a future result. No strategy can guarantee a win, and a game should not be treated as a way to recover losses.

Balances, returns and records

Any return or prize is calculated according to the applicable game rules and the information displayed when the wager is made. Account records may show wagers, results, adjustments, cancellations and other transactions. You should review these records and raise any suspected discrepancy through the available support process without delay.

5. Settlement, payments and responsible betting

Settlement and cancelled bets

Bets are settled after the relevant result or game outcome is available and the applicable checks have been completed. A bet that is cancelled or declared void is handled according to the relevant product rules. The treatment of the stake, any related selections and a multiple bet may differ depending on why the bet was cancelled and the type of wager placed.

Settlement may be reviewed if a result is later corrected, if a technical or pricing error is identified, or if information relevant to the market was incorrect. A review may result in a settlement being confirmed, amended or cancelled in accordance with the applicable rules.

Payments and account checks

Deposits and withdrawals are subject to the available payment methods, verification requirements, transaction checks and the Terms and Conditions. You may be asked to confirm your identity, payment ownership or source of funds. Transactions may be delayed, declined or restricted where information is incomplete, a payment provider does not approve the transaction, or additional checks are required.

You must not use a payment method that belongs to another person without proper authorisation. Any suspected fraud, chargeback, misuse of a payment method or attempt to bypass account controls may lead to an account review and action under the applicable terms.

Responsible betting

Gambling should be treated as entertainment, not as a source of income. Only bet with money you can afford to lose and set a budget before you play. Do not chase losses, borrow money to gamble, or continue playing to deal with stress, financial problems or other personal difficulties.

  • Set personal spending and time limits where those tools are available.
  • Take regular breaks and avoid gambling when tired, upset or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Keep gambling separate from essential household spending and financial commitments.
  • Review your activity if your bets are becoming more frequent, larger or harder to control.
  • Use available account restrictions, breaks or self-exclusion options if gambling is no longer enjoyable or manageable.
  • Seek independent financial, health or gambling support if you are concerned about your behaviour.

If you have a question about a bet, game result, account record or responsible gambling option, use the support and account tools available on the website. Shazam Casino may request information needed to investigate a matter and may apply account protections where appropriate.
